ARE YOU SHARING OR OVERSHARING?

I think we’ve seen a bit of an ugly trend recently of oversharing and the stinky ploy of strategic vulnerability.

Just the other day, I literally heard someone say “I’m doing a vulnerability piece”

Being vulnerable is not a “thing to do”, it’s a way to be… and as with all good communication, it’s critically important that we are aware of our audience. We need to be mindful of what they’re ready to hear and willing to hear.

Brene Brown calls it “floodlighting” and we all know it when we get hit with someone else’s floodlight… but how do we make sure our own sharing is not overbearing?

Ken Robinson is a good place to start… be mindful of your audience, be quick, and be light. Click on the video below to see how not to stink at being vulnerable.
